Ty Coch, Llanaelhaearn

This is actually our second visit to Ty Coch on Brinmiod farm. We liked it so much last year that we decided to come again and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was even better than last year. The thing I continue to love best, and while Ill probably be booking here again, is the peace, quiet and solitude. Most places you try to book claim they are secluded but often there are nearby neighbours or youre overlooked by the owners property or its secretly an annex or a row of lodges or something. But not at Ty Coch. They have been very sensitive and clever with the placement of cottages on their property. The working farm is vast and surrounded by rugged stunning and truly panoramic natural views. From Ty Coch, I cannot see nor hear any of the other holiday homes on the land. The owners have been so expertly tactful in their placement and in tune with how to position them without spoiling the landscape or encroaching on one another in any way. I really hope if they expand that they keep this in mind with their property placement as its a rare find for that level of privacy with such breathtaking rolling views. Now, the other amazing surprise was the hot tub. Last year it was a wood fired hot tub and while I do love that style for its old world feel, they can be a chore, especially as my partner and I holiday in the deep winter of January when the weather is coldest and most unpredictable. They take two hours to heat and one cant control the temperature which makes dodging rain and wind to get in a true strategic feat. Still I love them all the same and honestly most secluded Welsh properties have a wood fired one. So imagine my delighted shock when we pull up and theyve replaced it with an electric tub. At first I was sceptical but gosh what a pleasure it was to simply step outside and step into perfectly temperatures water at every break in the weather. It really enhanced our holiday and then the enjoyment of the lights in the hot tub at night was so much fun. I was so happy I didnt want to leave. My partner and I holiday for privacy, coziness, nice views and board games, so we barely leave the cottage on our holiday so we spent the full 7 days there only leaving to buy more food. So we really can give an honest impression of how lovely this cottage is. Its a converted barn and effortlessly balances that rustic appeal with modern convenience. It is spotless when we arrive. Smart tv, underfloor heating, waterfall shower. They always leave Presseco and real roses for us, which is so romantic. We actually dont drink but the thought means so much. Its fully self catered, which for us is essential due to health conditions. Extra little things I love are the wood burning stove, very romantic, the fact that even though its a luxurious waterfall shower, it also has the handheld type which makes cleaning easier. Love that consideration of the combo. And the fairy lights they strung up on the fence and the cute sheep we can wave to. This place is perfect for couples who love privacy. An ideal romantic escape. Hats off to the owners for getting it so right.

The accommodation was in a quiet location up a long roadtrack. The road does have quite a lot of potholes which need fixing. A lovely barn conversion with a patio suited us perfectly, however a few things needed maintenance and the wasnt as clean as we expected. Only used the log burning hot tub once as it took 56 hours and constant logs to get anywhere near hot enough to get in. All in all the cottage was nice with amazing views which made for an amazing week with access to loads of coastal walks.

Truly stunning location . If you want a get away from it all bolt hole with amazing views of the mountains and the sea , with your only neighbours being cows then this is the place to come. The hot tub at night was extra special and was great for watching the meteor shower which was taking place when we were there.

Its a massive shame, this could be quite a nice little holiday let but quite frankly the level of cleanliness was disgusting. All the kitchenware was greasydirty, the bin lid was covered in grime, shower overflowed as there was matted hair in the drain, shower was caked in mould. Just to mention a few examples. Was very disappointing and only saved by half decent weather and nice views. The road in is a bit troublesome and its a bit in the middle of nowhere but that didnt really trouble us.

If you enjoy getting away from it all, the location of Ty Coch is superb. There are 360 degrees of beautiful views, from fields full of cows, to hill forts, Snowdonias mountain range in the distance, to the coastline of the Llyn Peninsula and views over the sea. The drive up from the village is initially up a well maintained narrow lane, however as you approach the farm if you are in a normal car you will need to take care as the lane becomes more of a track and we negotiated much of this in first gear. However, if you are prepared to be patient with the drive, the approach to Ty Coch and the feeling of place is superb. We felt it was a great place where we could go out for the day and come back to the calm. The sense of peace and quiet is enhanced by the sound of all the wild birds, seeing a hare run across the field, bats flitting in the air on an evening. Inside the cottage is an open plan space, with a high beamed ceiling so it tended to stay cool on an evening despite the heat. I would say the photos on the Sykes listing were taken when the cottage had just been done, as things are a little bit more worn now. The kitchen and bathroom facilities are good, and the bedroom area was comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the sofa on an evening and having a beer. In terms of the outdoor space, this was great for our dog to run out to and the seating areas were nice with fantastic views. We didnt use the hot tub as we had the dog so didnt want to light the fire. In general, the main outdoor space has a lot of steps so I would take care when moving around. The main patio area has quite a few loose paving stones and I think these need some attention as someone could fall over. There is a separate outdoor space which is down the steps from the kitchen area but the door is very stiff to open and the area outside there is a bit overgrown. Despite these points, I just loved the place. On a morning I could walk the dog down the lane and there are footpaths from the house but they appeared to not be used much so were overgrown and it wasnt clear where to go. I would definitely come back here as it gave a sense of calm. Every day the view would be different or I would see different wildlife such as a woodpecker on the telegraph pole or a horseshoe bat at dusk. There is so much to visit on the doorstep, such as the Ty Coch Inn, Borth Y Gest beach, Tafarn Y Fic the local pub, the brewery at Nefyn, or further afield Snowdonia, Angleseys Newborough beach. A very relaxed area which made us feel rushed when we moved on to busier places before we went home!

Property in great location for exploring the Lyn Peninsula, close to beaches and has spectacular views. Very private but Cottagepatiogarden unfortunately all in need of a lot of TLC. Farm track could easily be made safer by filling in potholes, we have a 4x4 and were still concerned for our suspension.

Beautiful accommodation with lots of personal touches. Perfect retreat , loved the cows and their calf's coming up occasionally to drink beyond the fence Ideal for exploring the area and beyond.

Fabulous location and we'll be going back next year. Location has plenty around to see and do, but undoubtedly the highlight was being able to sit in the hot tub, look at the views in total silence other the the odd moo from the cattle. It was a great find

Absolutely fantastic! ! We loved our stay here for the week, made even better by a good nights sleep in such a comfy bed after a long day of hiking! Access to the hot tub overlooking the beautiful scenery, as well as the cows was the cherry on top. Inside was well decorated and thought out, simplicity at its finest. The road to the cottage was bumpy but to be expected for a farm track, and gave us no issues Easy driving distance to lots of different walks and locations, and a small Londis shop in the next village over for any bits we missed. We cant wait to come back thank you!!

Fantastic secluded cottage. Our best and most private holiday yet. Will be back. Weve stayed in a few cottages around the uk for our holidays but this is the best for the price. The views from the hot tub and garden are panoramic and unrivalled by anywhere else weve stayed and the privacy is top notch. Often these days when you book a cottage you have no idea if its an annex or right next door to the owners or something and most listing dont tell you and take deceptive photos to disguise how overlooked you are but Ty Coch is different. It is out in the fields of a large farm and you are not overlooked at all. It truly is extreme privacy but owners are down the lane if you need them. Its perfect. The converted barn cottage is done to a very high standard with excellent amenities. Normally when we stay rural theres a hot water issue but not here. Really high standard, going on our favourite list.

The property, and property owners were absolutely lovely. This really is a special little nook in the heart of Wales. The finish of the property is to a really high standard and wed definitely recommend visiting to others, and we are planning to visit again in the summer. There are some odd cobwebs and areas that havent been dusted but we definitely put this to it being out of season and over the Christmas period. Overall, the views and property itself are gorgeous and I highly recommend it.

We had a peaceful, relaxing stay in the barn conversion. I loved that it was away from everyone and we could well and truly relax. The property itself was well maintained and had everything we needed. It is on the side of the hill so there were lovely views across the countryside to Cardigan Bay, and with low light pollution the stars were stunning ideal for astrophotography. The Prosecco, dressing gowns and slippers were a lovely touch, thank you.

Ty Coch is a beautiful secluded hidden gem. The track road in places may be a little bumpy to up to the cottage, but worth it to get to this idyllic location. The cottage itself inside is modern, comfortable and has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. It's a perfect base for trips out, but also ideal to just stay in and enjoy the amenities, serenity, tranquility and the most stunning views this property has to offer. Owen and Lola are great hosts and are there if you need them, but respect your privacy at the same time. We would 100 recommend Ty Coch and are hoping to return soon to this beautiful setting.

The property and location were excellent, with wonderful views, and scrupulously clean, which we enjoyed enormously. It would be very useful to have instructions on the appliances, and any improvements to the potholes leading to the farm would be appreciated but did not detract from the enjoyment of our holiday. A clear indication of the drop down of the step from the bedroom area is a must, which can be quite dangerous, especially if you are carrying something.

Extremely well equipped, pretty cottage with a unique panoramic view. Unfortunately, the very good facilities are at the expense of storage space for personal luggage such as clothes and food, which can make longer stays problematic.

Everything as expected, even better actualy. You cant see from pictures how nice the view is outside the house till you see it yourself. Loved our weekened with my partner there. Beutiful countryside, beutiful and privat property. Already recommended to some friends.

Had a lovely stay, the views and location were exceptional. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in wales. Only comment I would make is that maybe some extra signage upon arrival as it was a little bit unclear to find however that didnt hinder the experience.

We booked Ty Coch as a place to stay for our silver wedding anniversary . It was a perfect location , with stunning views . The peace and quiet was greatly appreciated . The owners were very prompt in sorting a couple of minor issues. We have come away with lots of precious memories. Thank you

Rustige mooie plek, vriendelijk contact met de eigenaar, heel vluchtig bij aankomst daarna niet meer gezien. Alles is in het huisje aanwezig, bed, handdoeken en badjas schoon. Rest van het huisje stoffig en smoezelig. Ideaal gelegen voor uitstapjes naar zee en Snowdonia. Hottub heerlijk, wel zelf brandhout gehaald. Weg naar boerderij eigenaar en verder naar het huisje veel gaten en kuilen.

Lovely little find! Quiet and remote, but close enough to so many gorgeous places. The barn itself had everything we needed, for my husband and I plus our Labrador and 18 month old! Would definitely recommend.

Although we had a nice little stay the scenery was amazing and you could see mountains, countryside & the sea. The bottle of Prosecco was most welcome. We were a little disappointed by the size of the property, very small the photos made it looked bigger. To improve the property there needs to be more cutlery & dishes as limited also instructions on how to use the hot tub as was a wood fired one and we did not use it while we were there. It would have been nice for this to be ready to use on the day we arrived. If you want isolation then this is the place to stay but as warned in write up the road to the property is bad.

Really lovely cottage in the perfect location. The wood fired hot tub was great and we enjoyed using the log burner on chilly nights. The cottage is well equipped and cleanly. Comfy bed. We were going to bring a chess board and upon opening the blanket box we found one along with some blankets which were great to get cosy on the sofa and watch TV. Perfect place to stay if you are looking for somewhere isolated and quiet. Going out into the garden and being surrounded by cows and a lovely view was fantastic. The owners were very helpful and only a phone calltext away if you need help finding the property or if we needed some extra logs. We were also left a lovely bottle of Prosecco which was a nice touch Would definitely stay again in the future.

It's been a couple of weeks since my wife and I stayed here it's an amazing ... It's been a couple of weeks since my wife and I stayed here it's an amazing place Owen who owns it was amazing on our day or arrival he greeted us the cottage is very lovley the views are amazing owens step daughter is a credit and amazing we had a problem with the bbq she went above and beyond to get it fixed apart from that I would highly recommend staying here the hot tub is amazing chilling out whilst the sun going down then watching the stars if u get the chance you need to stay here my wife and I will be back

The cottage was beautiful and extremely clean. It was very well equipped for self catering. There were lots of towels provided and the bed was very comfortable. I liked the decor and the nice touches such as a robe and slippers each and the welcome Prosecco. For star gazers the sky around there is so clear and I would include this feature in the description. We didn't use the hot tub so can't comment on that. It was a shame however, that there wasn't a pub in walking distance as had been stated.

Sad shower water didnt run unable to shower every day bbq was dirty so was cooker very disappointed we ate out every day instead, bed fab scenery fab .

Really beautiful place, in the middle of nowhere, perfection! There is a stunning view and it was lovely and hot at the time! The only down side of that was the midges. However the own had left some spray. Any query's we had the owner met straight away. There is a lovely hot tub looking over fields and fields! The owner lives down the road so great if you need anything! I would highly recommend!

Great little cottage. Location beautiful relaxing, quiet, awayfromitall with just the cows and sheep for company, but within easy reach of nearest town. Ideal place for a proper get away. Good facilities, nicely laid out, clean and comfortable. Would certainly recommend.

We had a fantastic stay at Ty Coch! The cottage was immaculate, so cosy and very well equipped. The complimentary fudge and Prosecco was such a lovely touch! The setting is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views of the countryside and the ocean. We found it to be a perfect base for walks and hikes in the surrounding area, giving us access to so many different places within 40 minutes or less. The hosts couldnt have been more helpful and were always available if we needed them. We would definitely recommend Ty Coch to anyone thinking of spending a few days in the Welsh countryside for a relaxing weekend away or as a base for a busy active day.

Excellent property situated in a quite location, which is perfectly located close to beeches, walks and exploring the local area.

Beautiful little place for a lovely peaceful weekend

Definitely 1010 beautiful barn, well equipped. Great hosts, very helpful and friendly including their doggos We had a very relaxing week Jan 23 it's the perfect place to unwind. The views were some of the best we've seen. Lots of dog friendly beaches and walks near by the road to the barn is a farmers track but if you take it gentle driving it's fine I wouldn't hesitate in recommending and will definitely keep in mind for another break towards the end of the year x

We had a lovely stay, the accommodation was fantastic, nice and private with obviously amazing views and very peaceful. There were a couple of things which could have been improved that would have made our stay even better however. We were planning to cook most meals so to not leave the dogs, but it was made difficult with a lack of utensils, such as there only being one small knife. The toilet wasn't attached or fixed to the wallfloor, under the bed was very dirty and the lighting was very dark, which made things difficult sometimes with it being winter. There was also no dishwasher tablets, and only a small amount of kitchen roll and toilet roll, so we needed to purchase these during our stay of only 4 days. We also appreciate the property is located ona working farm, however there was clearly a space behind the wardrobe where a mouse lived and the noise it made during the night woke both of us multiple times. Otherwise it was an idyllic, peaceful retreat, perfect to spend time walking in the beautiful Welsh countryside.
