Sgubor, Chwilog

Sgubur is a wonderful cottage. Stunning countryside location with a 5 min walk to the village with a fabulous butchers, and pub serving great food and beers. Its also only a short drive to Criccieth or Pwllheli for a full range of amenities and shops. The cottage is cosy and warm, well equipped and comfortable. The double bed was lovely to sleep on. The twin beds were comfortable and the bedrooms had plenty of space. The sofa and dining table and chairs are also really comfortable and there the most amazing sea views from the lounge and the hot tub. The hot tub is a great size plenty of room for 6 people and is checked and water tested every day by the owner. The owners live onsite in the farm house and are friendly and approachable, on hand to answers any questions you may have, but not intrusive at all. The garden is secure and our German Shepherd loved playing outside. The outside furniture is great quality and was comfortable to sit out and enjoy lunch in the autumn sun, before star gazing from the hot tub. The cottage is well maintained and is constantly being improved by the owner, who was busy renovating the second cottage during our stay. There are 3 cottages on site but all have there own space and your not overlooked. We loved our stay and will be back.

We had a lovely and relaxing week at Sgubor. The views were amazing and the weather was perfect to spend so much time outside in the lovely garden and hot tub! There is ample space for younger ones to run around and my daughter loved playing football with the owner Arwel and his daughter and riding her bike. The cottage was clean and tidy and we were very comfortable, it had all the facilities we needed. Arwel greeted us on arrival and was friendly and helpful. The itinerary he gave us was really useful and we were able to make the most of our stay visiting recommended local beaches, castle, walks and enjoying the fish and chips! Loads of things to do but it was also lovely to spend a peaceful quiet day at the cottage looking out to sea. We would highly recommend anyone staying here, it has something for everyone and we would love to go back. Thank you to Arwel and Sioned for an amazing holiday!

Very nice cottage, cosy and clean. Great equipped kitchen, outdoor space and fab hot tub. Pathways at the doorstep. Lots of things to do and see close by. Very helpful host. I would definitely recommend this place!

Cottage was fab for the dogs, although a small, determined dog could get under the fence, excellent green lane near by for easy exercise. Host was lovely and met us on arrival. Hot tub provided as part of the overall package it's use wasn't extra as they are in alot of other places. Minimal extras left, only essentials provided . Biggest disappointment was the arrival abd departure times which you are only made aware off once booking is confirmed. Arrival not before 5.30pm, latest I've ever cone across even allowing for Covid restrictions, departure 9am, both without exception. I didn't ask I'd either could be altered as the web site states it isn't possible. These timings would have influenced my booking in the first instance. There are steps from car park to cottage, a further step in the garden, and the steps in and out of the patio doors are steep and not level, a hand rail would have beneficial. There was only 1 glass wine glass in a cottage that's set up for 6 guests, we bought 2 more, leaving them behind. Picnic plastic glasses were available instead. Over all cottage was clean, hot water and heating were always available, in a good location for travel around the area and great for the dogs.

Party of 3. Myself, 55, mum 86 and dog 4 had a wonderful week in Sgubor cottage. The cottage was very well kitted out and tastefully furnished. There were three bedrooms, a double and twin on the ground floor and a twin on the first floor. There was an open plan kitchen diner living space, the kitchen having every item and utensil you'd need and more The living space had a comfy corner sofa with cushions and throws. The enclosed garden had a quality table and chair set, sun longers and of course, a superb hot tub. There were wood floors throughout and the bed linen throws, pillows and decor were of good quality and tasteful. Things I feel could be improved upon were a bit of painting here and there to freshen up, a deep clean of the shower room as the sealant and grout and around the shower door needs freshening up. Although not listed as being a specifically wheelchair friendly property, once inside the cottage is very good for anyone with reduced mobility. Adding a small ramp alongside the two steps outside the gate and the entrance would make this a really accessible holiday home.

Lovely well maintained property. Hosts very welcoming. Information provided on arrival with recommendations of places to visit which was very helpful. Great location, with some lovely beaches nearby. Kids loved the hot tub which was an added bonus!

Very convenient location for exploring Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula. The cottage was really nice and we loved the garden and hot tub that had a great view of the sea. Owner's recommendations for things to do were spot on. We had a lovely holiday.

I recently had the pleasure of staying in this holiday cottage just outside the village of Chwilog on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience for me and my friends. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning sea views and the spacious garden that awaited me. One of the highlights of the cottage was the wonderful hot tub, which provided the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind while taking in the picturesque surroundings. In today's digital age, it's also worth noting that the cottage had reliable wifi, ensuring that I could stay connected if needed. Accessibility was a key factor for me, and I was pleased to find that the cottage was accessible friendly, with two downstairs bedrooms and a downstairs shower. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and there were even extra blankets provided for those cooler nights. The ability to control the heating was a welcome feature, allowing me to adjust the temperature to my liking. A short walk away from the cottage, there was a charming local pub where I enjoyed some delicious meals and drinks. It was a great way to immerse myself in the local culture and meet friendly locals. The location of the cottage was also perfect for exploring the Snowdonia National Park. Our host, Arwel, was kind enough to recommend some lovely walking trails, which led us to discover breathtaking waterfalls and even take a refreshing dip. The proximity to the park also meant that there were opportunities for golfing and cycling, with a golf course and cycling trails nearby. The attention to detail in the cottage's decor was evident, and it was clear that great care had been taken to ensure cleanliness. The entire space felt cozy and inviting, making it the perfect home away from home. In conclusion, I recommend this holiday cottage in North Wales to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable getaway. With its stunning sea views, spacious garden, hot tub, accessibility features, comfortable beds, and nearby attractions, it truly exceeded my expectations. I cannot wait to return and create more wonderful memories in this charming retreat.

Lovely, peaceful location. Easy drive to some of the most beautiful, sandy beaches in the UK and then Snowdonia the other way. Hot tub was great big size and well maintained. Hosts give you a lovely personalised recommendation sheet which helped us a lot.you must visit the Ty Coch pub!!! Facilities were like a home from home. Perfect.

Really enjoyed our stay overall absolutely beautiful location & property. Amazing sea views and not over looked at all. Garden was actually enclosed which is perfect for dogs & a big relief for us! Owner was extremely friendly & welcoming. Wifi worked very well & we appreciated the stocked kitchen with utensils and equipment etc The only constructive feedback we would give is we were a little short on things such as toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets cleaning products etc so we went and brought our own. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We loved our stay at Sgubor, it had everything we needed and was ideally situated with a lovely view of the sea and lots of opportunities for local dog walks. The hot tub was a particular hit, very easy to use, nice and clean and the owners regularly checked on it and us to make sure all was well.

We had a fantastic week, 4 adults, two teenage boys and two dogs. The cottage is brilliant, great location for touring the peninsula or further afield. The views from the garden and hot tub are fantastic. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Cant say enough about how good this cottage is, makes sure you get to Abersoch for a choice of chic shops and food options. Porth Neigwl beach just beyond to play in the surf, Glaslyn Ospreys worth a visit too. Multi sports on Criccieth beach great for kids as well as the Castle Chippie there. Y Madryn pub in the village is dog friendly and does lovely local food and beer. Thanks to A the owner for his guidance during the week, we will be back. Dont forget to sit out on a clear night in the hot tub and star spot and watch the moon rise over Cardigan Bay!

We had the most fantastic stay at the cottage. Everything was perfect! The cottage was spacious and very well equipped. Lovely fresh decor and comfortable feel. The garden is great for the dogs as its secure so no worrying about them getting out. WiFi was brilliant and the tv included Netflix ect which was perfect for chilling in the evening after being out all day walking. The location is perfect for visiting all the near by places such as Abersoch, Nefyn ect. The owner was really friendly and helpful! We will deffinately return.

We recently had the pleasure of staying in Sgubor, a spacious, beautifully converted barn in a peaceful location overlooking fields with a lovely view of the sea. Arwel and his family were very welcoming always available if you needed them and if not they left you to enjoy the lovely peace and quiet. The cottage had everything we needed, beautifully furnished and with a very well equipped kitchen including dishwasher. The garden was fully enclosed and perfect for our dog Erik to enjoy the surroundings in a safe environment. The Hot Tub was lovely, well maintained and very clean, the water is changed everytime new guests arrive. We were new visitors to North Wales, it not a place we know well. We chose the area because of the beeches and we were not disappointed. Arwel has great local knowledge and we were blown away by the beauty of the area, all within 40 minutes drive. The local beech is around a 20 minutes, lovely walk from the cottage. The pubs within the area are still suffering the fallout from COVID with changing opening hours and staff shortages so my advice is always give them a call to check their opening times and book a table where possible. There is a local Asda supermarket 10 mins drive away so all is very convenient. The cottage, the hosts and the area were all perfect for our needs and with so many places to visit we have already booked to go back next year. Perfect !

Lovely cottage in peaceful rural location with 20 min. walk to unspoilt beach gorgeous! Owner very welcoming and helpful. Very well equipped but one little thing some small sharp kitchen knives would be helpful eg. for slicing tomatoes!!

Potential to be excellent with some improvements and attention to detail. Outdoor area and hot tub excellent, very well maintained, plenty of seating. Unfortunately let down by the interior. Spiders and cobwebs in every corner, stained carpets, remote control covered in jam, no wardrobes to hang clothes. Sorry to have to say but it wasn't what we expected and we have stayed in many holiday let's around the UK.

We had an absolutely fabulous time here. A beautiful cottage with a tremendous view. Our hosts were lovely and gave us excellent advice on places to visit. I highly recommend this property.

The cottage was ideally located to visit both Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula. The cottage was well equipped. As it was our first visit to the area, the property owner suggested several trip ideas which we followed. The hot tub was a bonus. This made it an excellent holiday.

Great little holiday cottage. Clean interior and spacious. Helpful it can accept dogs however on arrival there were 2 dog messes in the garden on arrival, one of which I was on the patio in full view and 2 on the driveway where parking is. The garden should of been checked prior to our arrival. Also the garden is not secure for small dogs as my dog nearly got into the field despite being watched. Outdoor recycling bins had not been emptied ready for us either. The previous guest or cleaner had left there cigarette pack on the outdoor window sill and butts on the floor. Better outdoor maintenance is needed. Upstairs bedroom had large stain on carpet. Needed a deep clean.

We had an amazing stay in Sgubor. Fantastic views and had everything you needed for a week ago. We hope to return.

A lovely property and an excellent location. A small improvement would be a couple of mats. One at the front door. When it's wet or when using the hot tub, it can get very wet in the hallway. Plus there wasn't a mat in the shower which made it very slippery. But overall a fantastic place!

Perfect location and cottage. We all loved it.

The property is superb, comfortable and well appointed it benefits from a fantastic rural location overlooking mountains and sea. The owners who live in an adjacent property were equally unobtrusive but available if necessary, calling round on a couple of occasions to check everything was ok and offer advice as to places to visit. Whilst we like to visit many different places, Sgubor is one of the few that we genuinely would like to return to.

The afternoon we got home I was looking at rebooking. We all loved it, I cant fault it. Wonderful setting & scenery, the building was brilliant, warm, comfy & spacious. We all loved the hot tub, even if it was the first weekend of January! Our one wish to go back again in the sunshine.

Great place, perfect location and equipped to a very high standard. Perfect stay cation in a stunning part of the country. Only feedback would be that it would have been great to have a folder or book of important information like you get with most cottages

Sadly we had to cut our holiday short due to bereavement but it was a lovely property with a very dog safe garden, lovely hottub and superb views. Only comment is the lounge area would be small for a family of 6.

We saw the pictures and loved them. But when we got here we were blown away. Absolutely stunning. Not just the views but the cottage itself. Helped save money too as we went out during the day and hot tubbed at night. The site owner couldn't be more friendly. Even let our dog play with his. But he couldn't do enough. So much to do within driving distance during the day. But this is such a stunning and comfortable place to stay. I would highly recommend. We will be back!!!!

Absolutely lovely property the view from the hot tub was constantly changing and the privacy while in the gardenhot tub extremely good. Definitely would recommend this place.

Sgubor is a lovely cottage with breathtaking views. The interior was clean and inside was everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The owner came and introduced himself and regularly checked in throughout the week to make sure everything was to our liking and that we had everything we needed, he also showed us how to use the hot tub which was well used and a definite bonus for us. We were lucky enough to have a really hot week so went to the beach most days, our favourites were Llanbedrog and Aberech sands only 10 minutes drive and free parking with a 2 min walk to the beach The latter is a stony beach but has stunning views and it was very quiet. Criccieth is also a very pretty little place with the castle, shops, cafes and a beach, but this is not dog friendly. We absoutely loved our stay at Sgubor and have already booked for next Summer. Thank you!!!

We were over the moon with the accommodation. Beautiful , clean little converted barn, over looking the sea. Owner very helpful. We all loved the hot tub, and noticed they were all emptied, thoroughly cleaned and refilled with fresh water for new arrival of guests. Daughter very happy with the new trampoline in the communal garden. Would highly recommend.

The cottage was excellent and the warm welcome from the owners was really great. The location is great and the facilities are brilliant. I would 100 recommend this cottage as it is a great place to come and relax.

The cottage we stayed in was well and above our expectations! Fully kitted out with everything you could need and more it's definitely prepared for equipped for comfort and convenience in mind ! The garden was secure and ample space for our little dog! The location was perfect and the views were spectacular! Especially from the hot tub The host was very friendly and nothing was too much!

Lovely property in a lovely part of the country. Fantastic place to spend New Year. The cottage is very comfortable & maintained to a high standard. Well equipped with everything needed, plus has the bonus of the hot tub. The family are very friendly & extremely helpful, and went out of their way t o make us welcome. The cottage had be thoughtfully decorated for Christmas, with a Christmas tree, some ornament & some lights. Very pleasant holiday, which we hope to revisit & can highly recommend a visit to these cottages.
